Hello Emily and all other readers! Today I will be reflecting information processing.  For the theater 1 class it was a perfect day to go because it was the day of their performance. They performed what they have been working on over the past couple weeks. The Performance was fanatic assembly, What that means is the students take a musical piece and create a story with that music that is only physical movements. The best part was not the performances but everyone sharing their thoughts afterwards. Specific to that day Mr. Moss had all the kids leave the classroom and meet at the stage so that everyone who performed could perform on an actual stage and everyone else could practice being in the audience and analyzing there performance. This I think really encoded and transferred information because they got to work independently and then show Mr. Moss the work and when they did he would ask them reflective questions and let them think on there work and also use positive reinforcement. This made it so they could dependently think on there own and then be able expand after working with Mr. Moss.  One thing I noticed was that all of the kids loved the assignment so after it was all over every one of them had something to say about it, so the participation was huge.

Motivation

If anyone is an expert on motivation and completely blows me away is Mr. Moss. I feel like Mr. Moss motivation strategies are different then most. Most people including myself would get people motivated by lots of energy and excitement. What Mr. Moss does with the students is help them see the end picture and has everything entirely on there shoulders.  For instance rehearsal for the musical he would call out when a students was putting forth exceptional effort by saying things like "Nathan is the reason this show will succeed" Then the students hear that and also want to be acknowledged. He points out also why the play will be a success or not and how that is entirely on there shoulders. After the first performance he said " One night all of your friends and family might come to see you and what happens if your class mates do not put forth all the effort they have because there family is not coming that night, We cant do that to each other" He hold everyone accoun...

Context of Development

Hello Emily and readers!  One thing interesting when contemplating Bioecological Model is how vastly different peoples growth is. Especially when regarding high school. I feel a lot of students who either need help physically or mentally often times take theater because there is a lot you can do in that regard with students going at there own pace and you are not graded by your talents or your mental or physical abilities but simply all effort. The first implication most of all was Mr. Moss trust in these students. With the layout of the room he couldn’t be looking at all the students at once and seeing what they were doing he would go from group to group checking up on them. This honestly really impressed me because some of these jobs involved drills, spray-paint and others items that could be hazard. The second implication was the idea of hand on experience.
